writer of the week
4 April 1999
My name is Maryann Hazen; wife, mom, Poet, some-times college student and Medical Transcriptionist. During the past year and a half I've enjoyed the good fortune to see more than 150 poems published, both in print and electronically. Poetry is simply a passion of which there is nothing that would not lend itself as inspiration.
Info & Stuff: I've been the 'Feature Poet' in Ink Stains; Pure Poetry and Coelaboration and Pogonip Webzine. "Lady Magazine" was named "Favorite Poem of February" in Poets' Review Newsletter. "Names" won 5th place in the Warm & Fuzzy III Contest. "Nana Never Got Naked" was honored as "Poem of the Month" in Abraxis Magazine. "Breasts" has been named "Poem of the Week" in "Gre(grape)poetry" and "Exploring" has won 3rd place in Poetspire's Discovery Contest. "Road to Glory" is "Poem of the Month" in "Little Read Writer's Hood" and is voted 8th place winner in the Preditors & Editors 1998 Readers Poll. "Thankfulness" has found its way to public radio WUCX 90.1 in Michigan. I've read much of my work on local public radio and have enjoyed a guest appearance on "The Helen Weiner Show" (local TV broadcasting). I've also had the great pleasure to participate in two separate interviews; one in "Perihelion" and another in "Gotta Write NetWork? LitMag?".
